Knee specialist for patients in Sharjah

One surgeon for knee pain, injuries, arthritis and replacement.

Seeing Dr. Subhash from Sharjah

Dr. Subhash does not have a clinic in Sharjah, but he is not new to Sharjah patients. From April 2024 to April 2025 he was a specialist orthopaedic surgeon at Burjeel Specialty Hospital, Sharjah. Today he sees knee patients at Grand Infinity Medical Center in Al Muteena, Deira, in north-east Dubai. The Directions link gives a live travel time from Al Nahda, Al Taawun or wherever you start.

What is knee specialist?

Knee pain has many causes, and the right treatment depends on finding the real one. In younger, active people it is often an injury: a torn meniscus, a torn ligament such as the ACL, or a broken bone around the knee. In older people it is more often osteoarthritis, where the smooth cartilage lining the joint wears away. Children can have knees that bow outwards or knock inwards. An orthopedic surgeon who treats the whole knee can examine you, read the scans, and offer everything from physiotherapy and injections to keyhole surgery or a knee replacement, without passing you between doctors.

Who it can help

  • Knee pain on stairs, when kneeling, praying or getting up from the floor.
  • A knee that swells, locks, clicks or gives way.
  • A sports or work injury, especially a twist with a pop and quick swelling.
  • Arthritis that is making walking, sleep or work harder.
  • A child whose legs bow or knock, or who limps.
  • A fall or road accident with a painful, swollen knee.

How Dr. Subhash approaches it

Dr. Subhash's stated main interests are trauma, joint replacement and arthroscopy, and the knee sits at the centre of all three. He trained in hip and knee replacement on a 2016 fellowship in India. He performs total and partial knee replacement and revision surgery; keyhole knee surgery, including meniscus repair, ligament reconstruction, cartilage smoothing and OATS; fracture surgery; and correction of knock knees and bow legs in children. Most knees start with exercises and simpler treatment.

What to expect

  1. Book a visit

Call or WhatsApp the clinic. Tell them if the knee was injured recently.

  2. Examination

He asks how the problem started and what it stops you doing, then examines both knees.

  3. Scans if needed

X-rays show bone and arthritis. An MRI shows the meniscus, ligaments and cartilage. Bring any scans you already have.

  4. A clear plan

He explains the cause and the options, from physiotherapy and injections to surgery, and you choose together.

  5. Follow-up

He reviews your progress and changes the plan if the knee is not improving.

Recovery, in general terms

Every patient is different. These are typical milestones, not a promise; your own plan comes from your consultation.

  • Many knee problems improve with physiotherapy within six to twelve weeks.
  • Keyhole surgery is usually day surgery, with a return to desk work in one to two weeks.
  • Ligament and meniscus repairs take several months before sport.
  • A knee replacement typically takes about three months for daily activities, and up to a year to settle fully.

When to book a visit

Book a visit if knee pain lasts more than a few weeks, keeps you awake, or stops you walking, praying or working comfortably. Go to an emergency department now if you cannot put weight on the leg after an injury, the knee looks deformed, or it is hot and red with a fever.

Questions patients ask

I saw Dr. Subhash at Burjeel in Sharjah. Can I continue with him?

Yes. You can book with him at the clinic in Deira. Records from another hospital may not transfer on their own, so bring your earlier reports, X-rays and any operation notes to the first visit.

Do I need an MRI before seeing a knee specialist?

No. He examines the knee first and then decides whether a scan is needed. If you already have an MRI or X-rays, bring the images and the report.

Are injections or physiotherapy worth trying before surgery?

Often, yes. Many knees with arthritis or wear-related tears improve with exercise, weight loss and, for some, an injection. Surgery is discussed when these have not helped enough or when an injury needs repair.

Why does my knee hurt when I kneel or sit on the floor?

Kneeling presses on the kneecap joint, and deep bending squeezes the meniscus. Pain in these positions can come from arthritis, a meniscus tear or kneecap problems. An examination usually narrows it down.
